SEL (on your Packlist)

Short for Selected — "I'm bringing this." Ticking it puts the item on your list for this trip. Open your Packlist.

SEL (on your Tasklist)

Same three letters, different job. Here it means "this task is on my list." Un-ticking it removes the task from the trip entirely — DONE, Doing and any group request go with it, and re-ticking starts it over from scratch. On the Packlist, un-ticking SEL only clears flags; the item stays. Open your Tasklist.

PKD

Short for Packed — "it's in the bag." Ticking PKD ticks SEL for you, so you can go straight to it. Packlist only.

DONE

The Tasklist's equivalent of PKD — "finished." Ticking it ticks SEL for you.

Bringing

A third box, in the ⋮ menu, that starts already ticked. Un-tick it to keep an item on your list but flag it (not bringing) — struck through, and left out of the progress bar's total. Nothing else marks an item that way.

Doing

The Tasklist's counterpart to Bringing, also in the ⋮ menu and also ticked by default. Un-tick it to park a task: it shows (not doing) and goes struck through, but still counts toward your progress total.

The SEL cascade

Un-ticking SEL on the Packlist also clears PKD and Bringing for that item — packing progress goes with it. Your Buy flag survives.

Buy

A per-item flag in the ⋮ menu. It sends the item to your Shopping List and selects the item, so something you weren't taking joins your packlist. It's also the switch for the green "where to buy" rows — products only ever appear under Buy-flagged items.

Request from Group

On a shared trip, moves an item or task off your list into 👥 Group Items / 👥 Group Tasks until a companion claims it. A (requested) row is not struck through — someone else still has it.

Important / low priority

A yellow checkbox marks an Important row; a gray one marks a low-priority or optional row. A red ⋮ means a selected row is flagged (buy) or (not bringing) — still waiting on a decision.

Packlist

Things you take. Belongs to one trip, saved to your account, and tracks what you've packed. Open it.

Tasklist

Things you do. Also per-trip, but organised by Timing — weeks ahead, days ahead, day of, on arrival, after you're home. Open it.

Quicklist

A preview, not a list. Pick tags and see what PacklistPRO would suggest, with no trip involved. Ticks are a scratch pad kept in this browser only — nothing is written to your account, so another device starts empty. Use ➕ Send these to a trip to make any of it real. Open it.

Shopping List

Things you need to buy. The odd one out: it belongs to your account, not a trip, and it fills up from the Buy flag on any trip's items. Open it.

Timing

When a task or item belongs in your run-up. On the Tasklist, Group By → Timing puts the most urgent first: Last Minute → Day Of → Day Before → Weeks Before → When You Return Home. Your Packlist orders Timing the other way round.

Itinerary · Notes · Expenses

The rest of a trip: your flights, drives and stops; anything you want to remember; and what it all cost. Each is per-trip. See them all on the Trip Dashboard.

Trip Tags

What you'll be doing — beach, hiking, business, kids, pets, and so on. Tags are how PacklistPRO knows what to recommend: they drive the Recommended Items and Recommended Tasks filters. Without them those filters fall back to showing the whole catalog. Set them on Edit Trip.

Recommended Items / Tasks

A filter (under ▼ Options & Filters) that narrows a list to just what matches this trip's Trip Tags, instead of the full catalog. An item or task qualifies if it carries any one of your tags — so more tags means more results, not fewer.

Trip Link Code

A short code generated once per trip that never changes. Give it to a travel companion and they enter it from their Home page to request to join. When they accept they link it to one of their own trips, so each of you keeps your own trip, joined into a shared group.

Group Items / Group Tasks

The shared pool on a trip with companions. Anything you Request from Group waits here until someone claims it — tasks with I'll Do It.

Trip Dashboard

One overview of a single trip — countdown, progress, tags, and a fast way into every part of it. Open it.

Detail Level

How much of the catalog you see: High-Level (essentials only), Standard, or Ludicrous (everything). It is one account-wide setting, not one per page — changing it on Configure Items changes it on your Packlist too. Expected something that isn't there? Raise the level.

Always Bring / Always Do

Marks an item or task to be added already ticked to every trip you create from now on — passport, phone charger, that sort of thing. It does not touch trips that already exist.

Configure Items / Configure Tasks

Where you set your own defaults across the whole catalog at once — Importance, When to Pack, Always Bring. All three start switched off. Configure Items · Configure Tasks.

Site Mode

How much of the interface you see: Simple, Standard, or Ludicrous. Separate from Detail Level, which is about the catalog. Set it in Preferences.

Search vs. Filter

Not the same thing. Typing in the search box ignores your Filter, Status and Detail Level and searches everything. Clear the box to get your filters back.

Products

The green "where to buy" rows. They only ever appear under items you've flagged Buy, whatever the Products setting is in Options.

Carry-On

The bag you keep with you in the cabin. Size and liquid limits vary by airline; anything valuable, fragile or irreplaceable belongs here. Carry-on guide.

Checked Bag

The bag that travels in the hold. Assume you won't see it until you arrive — and sometimes later than that.

Personal Item

The smaller bag most airlines let you bring in addition to a carry-on — a backpack, tote or laptop bag that fits under the seat.

Packing Cubes

Zippered fabric boxes that divide a suitcase into compartments, so you can find one thing without unpacking everything. Packing-cube guide.

3-1-1 Rule

The usual carry-on liquids limit: containers of 3.4 oz / 100 ml or less, in 1 clear quart-size bag, 1 bag per passenger. Confirm with your airport — it varies.

Capsule Wardrobe

A small set of clothes chosen so everything works with everything else — the usual way to cut a packlist down without running out of outfits.

Layering

Packing several thin garments instead of one thick one, so you can adapt to a range of temperatures with less bulk.

Base Weight

The weight of your pack without food, water and fuel — the part you can actually plan down. Hiking term.

Dry Bag

A roll-top waterproof sack for anything that must stay dry — electronics, documents, a change of clothes.

Universal Adapter

Changes your plug's shape to fit foreign sockets. It does not change the voltage — that needs a converter, and most modern chargers don't need one. International guide.
