🔎 Finding & Adding People

Search matches an exact email or phone number — including someone's backup email and backup phone. Partial matches never appear.

Nothing matched? They are probably not on PacklistPRO yet — search only finds people who already have an account. 👋 Invite a Friend at the top of the page sends them a link to join.

Adding is silent and one-sided: the other person isn't told, they don't appear on your list from their side, and nothing of yours is shared with them.

Because it is one-sided, a contact who hasn't added you is marked ↩ Hasn't added you back under their name. Nothing is wrong and there is nothing to fix — they were never told you added them. It disappears by itself if they add you, and on PacklistPRO it changes nothing either way: you can invite them to a trip regardless.

A result shows only a name and a location — never the email or phone you didn't type. And the name is whatever that person's privacy settings let others see, so it may not be the one you know them by, or may just read Anonymous.

Your contacts are exactly what the Invite a contact picker on Edit Trip offers, so add someone here before trying to share a trip with them.

🚫 Block vs × Remove

🚫 Block only works on someone already in your contacts — a search result offers just + Add. Add them first, then block.

⚠ × Remove on a blocked person deletes the block along with the contact. They vanish from both lists and are no longer blocked. Only use Remove on the Blocked card if unblocking is what you want.

While a block is in place neither of you can invite the other to a trip — it counts in both directions, no matter which of you set it.

💡 Tips

• The legend above your contacts explains the 🟢 and 🟠 dots. Longer ago than an hour and there is simply no dot at all.
• The two boxes do different jobs: 🔎 Find People looks up members you don't have yet, while Filter your contacts just narrows the list you already have, and that one does match part of a name.
• If someone deactivates their account they drop off your list and out of search. You haven't lost the contact — the entry is still there, and they reappear if the account comes back.
• This list is shared across the family of sites, chat included — add or block here and it applies there too.
• Searching a lot? After roughly 30 lookups in 5 minutes searches quietly return no match until it resets — that isn't proof the person isn't there.
